Well they were suppose to leave yesterday. We got all packed, went into Hagen, ate at the Highlander (nice hotel/restaurant), went shopping and got to the airport. Of course, Luke fell asleep just as we got to the airport, so I stayed with him a bit until he woke up and then we went inside. Initially they said there was an indefinite delay, about 15 minutes later they said it was cancelled. This wasn't good. Joe has court cases on Thurs, they were suppose to be back on Wed night. They had an overnight in both Port Moresby and Brisbane, so we had some time to spare, but weren't sure if there were alternate flights for them to take. So we headed home, not sure what was going to happen. Thankfully Jeff Myers, who drove us to town, invited us to his house for dinner - chili, so we didn't have to worry about dinner.
Once home, we talked with others here and Scot Riggins mentioned taking other airlines into Brisbane, other than Air Niugini. I wasn't aware this was an option, but we checked it out. The times were right, it was just a matter of seeing if they had open seats on the planes. So this am, Megan, Joe, Luke, the Boyes, Judy, Kathy, and Becky headed into town at 0700 to make the morning flight and guarantee they would get on. They stood in line for 30 minutes before they would open the door, but Judy made sure they got on, and they did. While they were doing that, I was calling these other airlines from Kudjip to book their flights. Both connections had openings, so by God's grace it should all work out, as long as there are no other delays. Thankfully, they are borrowing the McCoys digicel phone, so I was able to call them in POM and let them know their flight reservations and all. So they should return to Pittsburgh on Wednesday evening at midnight if all goes well. Continue to pray for them as they travel.
