Residents of the pediatric ward

They come with coughs, diarrhea, belly pain, burns, seizures, malaria, infections and more.  They don't come alone, but with their mom and/or dad, someone to look after them, to feed them and give them reassurance when we poke them with needles and give them shots to make them better.  They come with tears from being broken and bruised and leave with smiles after being made whole again.  For the days or weeks they are with us, they touch our hearts with their tears and smiles as we care for them and watch them improve.  We rejoice in their departure, knowing they are well and that a new little body will fill their bed the next day with the chance to do it all again.
