This past Saturday, I got to spend my half birthday with the Leiberts. I have known the Leiberts for 11 years now, ever since SMI (Summer Medical Institute) days dating back to 2001. They are a great family, that adopted me during residency. I enjoyed many Sunday night dinners, dips in their pool, discussions about the Bible and just time hanging out throughout my years here in Harlingen for residency.
Since I was going to be "home" for my half birthday, they took the opportunity to celebrate. We made Monster Cupcakes, played games that we played together through the years and had dinner. It was a lot of fun. My mom always said she wanted to have a birthday party for Megan and I in June, just so it wasn't near Christmas and maybe we would get something other than winter clothes, but she never did it. Now I have had a half birthday party.
