1 year ago, our 7 teens started on the journey of memorizing and learning the books of Romans and James in preparation for Q2014, the National Nazarene Bible Quizzing competition. 
They worked hard throughout the year. getting up for weekly 0630 quiz practices, meeting individually with coaches and parents for practices, as well as every Sunday afternoon for team quiz practices. They used songs, rhymes and dramas to help them memorize Romans and James. Some memorized both books, some one of the books, some the memory verses and others learned as much as they could. Through all the time studying the word, they put it in their hearts and minds, and they grew closer to one another and to the Lord during this past year.
Having spent all year preparing, the kids set to show off their knowledge in their one quiz tournament of the year at Q2014 at Trevecca Nazarene University. Their parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends and mission friends (over 40 in number) gathered in Nashville to watch team EVENUS compete against the other top quiz teams across the US. The kids showed, that despite this being their first quiz, they were well prepared and ended up taking 3rd out of 44 teams in the District Experienced Tournament. The team quickly won the respect of many teams there, and the fan support kept getting bigger.
It was a great event for the families. Many of the grandparents were in attendance, one of the few times they get to see their grandkids all year long. So for them, to watch them compete at Bible Quizzing was a real blessing. My sister flew in for a few days, which was nice to get to spend some time with her.
Jim and Kathy Radcliffe, weren't able to make the Quiz, due to Jim's recent heart issues and upcoming heart surgery (17th of July please be in prayer for him), but Jo and Lydia weren't without supporters. Their older siblings, nieces, grandparents, aunt and uncle and cousins all came to watch them quiz.
It was a great quiz and a great year. Thanks to all the kids and the McCoys for the great memories and year we had together.
