For years, we have talked about wanting a Physical Therapy clinic - but lack of funding, lack of a PT and lack of space have been reasons we haven't been able to fulfill that dream. That is starting to change. When we moved into the new Administration Building, our old Admin building was big enough for Dental, Vision and Physical Therapy. So we had the space, now we just needed the stuff and the Physical Therapist. Earlier this year, Oroville Church of the Nazarene, had gotten a donation towards missions and asked what it could go to - and immediately, I thought, the PT clinic.
So working with Project Save, they were able to send us a 20 foot container, full of various PT equipment, and crutches and wheelchairs and walkers to help our patients. We had a great group of folks unloading the container when it came, and now we are working to figure out how to put the equipment together and how to make the most out of our space.
We have a lot of orthopedic patients who come to us each day. From fractured arms or legs, to tendon injuries from machete chops, to car accidents and more. We also have some neurological patients who have had strokes, or those patients who just need some rehab, some help in getting out of bed and learning to walk again, before they go home. Our hope is that, soon, we will be able to provide this service, that we have not yet been able to provide, in the past 50+ years, on a daily basis.
We still need the Physical Therapist, who can take equipment and their knowledge and bring them together to help our patients, but the room and the equipment part is now starting to come together. We are excited to think of the changes our patients will hopefully experience soon with this blessing from Oroville Church of the Nazarene and Project Save.
