Commissioning Service

On Feb 25th, I had the privilege of being Commissioned (being
affirmed by the Church of God's calling on our lives to serve Him), along with 36 other missionaries from the Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City.  The 37 of us came from 17 different countries, 40% of us were from North America, rest majority however were from outside of the US, serving on all the continents (outside of Antarctica).  This was exciting, to be a part of a global movement by the Church of the Nazarene to continue to work to reach souls for Jesus and to make Christlike Disciples.

Along with those of us being commissioned, Bill and Marsha McCoy were also honored as retiring missionaries.  As was pointed out, they served in both Swaziland, Africa, and PNG and in our service, we were commissioning missionaries from Africa and from PNG - so the Church of the Nazarene has certainly become more Global in the past 30 years.

We had quite the PNG contingent at the Commissioning.  Peter and Jenny Isaac were the missionaries commissioned from PNG, they have been serving in the country of Vanuatu for the past 14 years.  Peni and Talisua Fakaua are from Samoa, who have been serving in PNG in for 6 years now.  Rachel and Jordan Thompson are serving here at Kudjip since 2009, and then the McCoys and myself.  It was fun to be able to be commissioned together as a PNG group and to share that with the McCoys as they retired.

It was really nice to meet so many of our Church's missionaries from around the world and to hear all that God is doing in many countries.   It was also nice to share part of the festivities with my family and friends.  My sister and nephew came out for the weekend, as did my Pastor and his wife from New Mexico.  Some of our PNG family also came to see us, with Allison Dooley, her grandparents and Scot and Tyronza Pringle coming for the service.
