When I got back to the US, I stopped on the West Coast to visit with some friends. I spent about 2 days with Becky's family seeing the parts of Oregon that I have heard Becky talk about - the Oregon coast and Silver Falls. I enjoyed my visit, and I even got to see and stand on the Japanese Pier that has traveled the Pacific after the tsunami which hit Japan last yr and has made it's way to Agate Beach in Oregon. I don't recommend trying to stand on the pier, the Park Rangers frown on that and will ask you to get down.
After visiting with Becky's family, I spent a day with some friends from residency before heading to California for a few days. Unfortunately, I haven't acclimated to the time difference yet, but am getting there.
